BlackBerry appoints new CEO

(CercleFinance.com) - BlackBerry announces the appointment of John Giamatteo as its new CEO and member of the Board of Directors, effective immediately.
He succeeds Richard Lynch, who has held the position of interim CEO since November 4, and will remain Chairman of the Board.

The Canadian technology group also announces its intention to separate its IoT (Internet of Things) and Cybersecurity activities, which will operate as fully autonomous divisions. BlackBerry will no longer pursue the IPO of the IoT business.

John Giamatteo has been President of BlackBerry's Cybersecurity business unit since October 2021. Prior to joining the group, he was Chief Revenue Officer at McAfee after serving as Chief Operating Officer at AVG Technologies.
