Syensqo: construction of PVDF plant in the USA

(CercleFinance.com) - Syensqo announces that it has broken ground on its future battery-grade polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) plant in Augusta, Georgia (USA).
As a reminder, PVDF is a thermoplastic fluoropolymer used as a lithium-ion binder and separator coating in batteries.

Once completed, the site will become the largest PVDF production facility in North America, helping to meet the growing needs of domestic energy storage markets.

In particular, the new site will produce Solef, Syensqo's signature PVDF product, which gives electric vehicles greater range while extending battery life and improving battery safety.

"The inauguration of our new facility marks an important milestone for the growth of our company, and for the continued growth of the US electric vehicle industry," commented Dr Ilham Kadri, CEO of Syensqo.

Syensqo estimates that the facility will produce PVDF for over 5 million electric vehicle batteries per year at full capacity, or 45% of projected PVDF demand by 2030.
