Travellers: Q3 EPS just beats expectations

(CercleFinance.com) - Travelers has reported Q3 earnings that have more than doubled (+109%) to 827 million dollars, or 3.
23 dollars per share, while the consensus was expecting close to 3.10 dollars.

The insurance company reported a 3% increase in its net written premiums, to nearly 7.8 billion dollars, with higher net investment income (566 million dollars after tax), although greater disaster losses.

Travelers adds that its underlying combined ratio improved with a 2.6-point reduction to 91.5%, while its return on equity increased to 12.1% from 6.2% in Q3 2019.
