Mattel: another difficult quarter.

(CercleFinance.com) - Mattel had a disappointing first quarter, having last night reported a loss of 32 cents per share, well above the 15 cents loss expected by the consensus.


Revenues also dropped significantly, falling from 793.8 million dollars at the end of the first three months of 2016, to 735.6 million dollars this year, although analysts were expecting this.

By geographical region, sales fell by 24% in the North American market, while export sales slipped 2% (including FX factors), with marked differences across regions (+18% in Asia, +2% in Latin America and -7% in Europe).
