Facebook: around 200 apps suspended after investigation

(CercleFinance.com) - Facebook said on Monday that around 200 applications have been suspended in the wake of the investigation that followed the Cambridge Analytica scandal in March.

The social network - which has investigated "thousands of apps" so far - said that the apps have been suspended pending a thorough investigation into whether they actually misused any data.

Facebook said it plans to investigate all the apps that had access to large amounts of information before the company changed its platform policies in 2014.

"There is a lot more work to be done to find all the apps that may have misused people's Facebook data - and it will take time," the company said in a statement.

In March, Facebook hired a digital forensics firm, Stroz Friedberg, to conduct a comprehensive audit of Cambridge Analytica after the data analytics firm gained access to information from users by violating the group's policies.
