ExxonMobil: second-quarter earnings doubled.

(CercleFinance.com) - ExxonMobil said on Friday that it has doubled its second-quarter net profit thanks to rising oil prices.


The U.S. energy giant today announced estimated second-quarter earnings of 3.4 billion dollars, compared with 1.7 billion dollars a year earlier, as the group's refining margins improved.

While upstream earnings rose substantially to 1.2 billion dollars, downstream results grew 68 per cent to 1.4 billion dollars on improved margins and higher refinery volumes.

Still, Exxon's earnings per share of 78 cents did not reach consensus, which was seven cents higher.

Oil-equivalent production was 3.9 million oil-equivalent barrels per day, down 1 per cent from the prior year.
