Dell: plan to lay off 5% of workforce

(CercleFinance.com) - Dell Technologies announced on Monday that it will lay off about 5% of its workforce as part of a plan to reduce expenses to better match its current strategic priorities.


In a notice, the US computer and server maker justified its decision by the need to be prudent in view of the "difficult" economic environment currently at work.

The Texas-based group had around 133,000 employees last year, so its redundancy plan is expected to involve some 6,650 jobs.

Dell expects to record the expenses associated with the implementation of these measures in its Q4 results, which will be published on 2 March.
