Citigroup: Q2 above expectations

(CercleFinance.com) - Citigroup's Q2 results included net income of 4.
5 billion dollars, with EPS of 1.63 dollar, up 27% and six cents above the consensus.

The bank's revenues rose 2% to 18.5 billion dollars, with growth in the institutional clients group (ICG) and global consumer banking (GCB) businesses offsetting the continued wind-down of legacy assets.

As a result of these write-downs, as well as efficiency savings, operating expenses remained largely unchanged at 10.7 billion dollars, despite spending and investments realting to higher volumes.
