Technip Energies: an investment from US DoE

(CercleFinance.com) - Technip Energies and LanzaTech announced on Monday that they will receive a $200m investment from the US Department of Energy (DoE) for their new sustainable ethylene process.


The 'Secure' project combines LanzaTech's carbon capture and utilization technology with Technip's to dehydrate ethanol into ethylene, the most common component of petrochemicals.

Technip Energies and LanzaTech signed a collaboration agreement in June 2023 to convert waste carbon into ethylene, the most common component of petrochemicals.

Ethylene is used in the manufacture of thousands of chemicals and materials, including plastics, detergents and coatings that keep hospitals sterile and food fresh.

The investment - which will finance the design, engineering, construction and equipment of a production unit in the USA - is part of the American Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), a package of reforms introduced by the Biden administration.
