Unilever: completes first tranche of share buyback programme
(CercleFinance.com) - Unilever has completed the first tranche of its buyback programme for a total amount of 3 billion euros, the consumer goods group said on Friday.
The second tranche of the programme - for another 3 billion euros - will start today, the Anglo-Dutch company said in a statement.
In April, Unilever announced its intention to buy back shares for an aggregate market value of up to 6 billion euros, particularly in order to return to shareholders the proceeds of the disposal of its spreads unit.
