RTL Group: shares up after results exceed forecasts

(CercleFinance.com) - RTL Group on Wednesday delivered full-year operating profit that was significantly above expectations.


According to preliminary and unaudited figures, the European broadcaster has generated an adjusted EBITA of around 850 million euros last year, compared to 1.15 billion euros in 2019.

The number significantly exceeds the previous guidance for the full-year, of about 720 million euros, which is also the current consensus,.

In its statement, RTL said TV advertising markets in Europe performed significantly better than previously expected in the important fourth quarter of the year.

In all, group revenue fell to about six billion euros last year, from 6.65 billion euros in 2019.

As scheduled, RTL Group will publish its 2020 full-year results on 12 March. Its shares are currently up 3.8% in Frankfurt.
