Rio Tinto: green power purchase agreement with Windlab

(CercleFinance.com) - Rio Tinto announces that it has signed what is being billed as Australia's 'largest renewable power purchase agreement (PPA)' to date, to supply its Gladstone operations (Queensland, Australia), by agreeing to purchase the majority of the power from Windlab's 1.
4 GW Bungaban wind project.

The agreement, which follows another PPA announcement last month, makes Rio Tinto 'the largest industrial purchaser of renewable energy in Australia', estimates the mining group.

Under the new PPA with Windlab, Rio Tinto will purchase 80% of all electricity generated by the Bungaban wind project over 25 years.
