EDF: wins wind farm project in Saudi Arabia

(CercleFinance.com) - EDF Renouvelables announces that it has won the tender for the Dumat Al Jandal wind farm in consortium with Masdar.


With an installed capacity of 400 MW, it will be the first in Saudi Arabia and the most powerful in the Middle East.

The future wind farm, which is located 900 kilometres north of Riyadh, will benefit from a twenty-year power purchase agreement with the Saudi Power Procurement Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Electricity Company.

EDF Renouvelables and Masdar teams are mobilised and the construction work - particularly with local companies - will start in a few months. The project is 51%-owned by EDF Renewables and 49% by Masdar.
