Total: commissioning of a new super-computer

(CercleFinance.com) - Total has announced the commissioning of its new supercomputer, Pangea III, which quintuples its computing power to 31.
7 petaflops and triples its storage capacity, with power consumption per petaflop divided by eleven.

Pangea III's capacity, which has been developed by IBM, adds to that of Pangea I and II which preceded it and puts it in pole position in industrial supercomputers and in eleventh place amongst the most powerful computers in the world, whether public or private (TOP500).

Arnaud Breuillac, head of Exploration-Production at Total said that the group can now better control geological risks during the exploration and development phase, accelerate studies and execute projects and increase the value of group assets.
