BASF: partners with US clean-tech firm Aqua Metals

(CercleFinance.com) - US leading recycler Aqua Metals is teaming up with German chemicals giant BASF to supply electrolyte, cooperate commercially, and improve its technology, the company said on Monday.

Under the terms of the deal, BASF will provide the initial supply of Aqua Metals' electrolyte for licensee facilities and will be the preferred supplier partner for electrolyte needs, the Nevada-based company said.

Moreover, BASF will offer its existing and future battery recycling clientele, while Aqua Metals will incorporate BASF's products into every initial deployment and system fill.

Aqua Metals and BASF said they plan to explore technical enhancements to further improve electrolyte formulations.

Aqua Metals' lead recycling technology is a room temperature, water-based process that emits less pollution, which could help meet growing demand for lead for new applications, including electric vehicles batteries, Internet data centers, or solar, and wind energy storage
