Siemens: sells 17% stake in Osram for 1.2 billion euros.

(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens has said it has sold over 18 million ordinary shares in Osram Licht, representing about 17% of the German lighting maker's issued share capital, for approximately 1.
2 billion euros.

The sale followed an accelerated bookbuild offering to institutional investors only. Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, the industrial giant said.

Siemens said it plans to retain a small number of Osram shares in order to be able to service a Siemens bond issue maturing in 2019.
