Daimler: partners Rolls-Royce in power generator deal

(CercleFinance.com) - Daimler Truck says that it plans to collaborate with Rolls-Royce on stationary fuel cell systems as CO2-neutral emergency power generators for critical sites such as data centres.


A full cooperation agreement is being prepared for signature later this year. As part of this partnership, a joint venture between Daimler Truck and Volvo Group will be responsible for supplying the fuel cells.

Through its innovation unit Lab 1886, Daimler and Rolls-Royce Power Systems have already agreed on a pilot scheme to develop a demonstrator of this technology, which is expected to become operational towards the end of this year.
