Daimler: first-quarter results above market expectations.

(CercleFinance.com) - Daimler's fiest-quarter operating profit came in significantly above market expectations, the German carmaker said on Wednesday.


Group earnings before interest and tax (Ebit) reached 4 billion euros, from 2.15 billion euros a year earlier, the Stuttgart-based company said in its preliminary results announcement.

While quarterly Ebit at Mercedes-Benz Cars reached 2.2 billion euros, from 1.4 billion euros one year ago, Ebit at Daimler Trucks increased to 668 million euros, against 516 million euros the previous year.

Daimler also said it benefited from a capital gain of 183 million euros in connection with mapping company Here and from the sale of real estate at MFTBC (Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation),which amounted to 267 million euros.

The group's full quarterly results will be published on 26 April.

After these figures, Daimler shares were up 1.5 percent at 67.6 euros in Frankfurt this morning.
