Bombardier: quarterly loss reduces as margins improve

(CercleFinance.com) - Bombardier improved its operating margins in the first half of the year and said it was well positioned to achieve its full-year guidance.

For the second-quarter, the Canadian group reported revenues of 4.1 billion dollars, compared to 4.3 billion one year ago, with EBIT before special items up 55% to 164 million dollars.

The Montreal-based plane and train maker points out significant margin improvements at both its transportation and business aircraft units, which reached 8.2% and 8.9% respectively in the past quarter.

The company still incurred a net loss of 296 million dollars in the quarter, from a 490 million dollar loss in the same period of 2016.

For 2017, Bombardier says it expects EBIT before special items at high end of our range, between 580 million dollars and 630 million dollars.
