Volkswagen: Commercial Vehicles sales flat in 2024

(CercleFinance.com) - Volkswagen reports that sales for its Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles division were flat in 2024, at E15.
12bn, despite a 4% decline in sales volume and a stable number of vehicles delivered.

Operating profit was down, at E743m (2023: E873m), due to restructuring measures. However, it remains significantly higher than in 2022 (E527m). Michael Obrowski, CFO, says that these expenses are an investment in our future and will enable us to work towards better cost control in the long term.

The automaker reports that FY 2024 was marked by "a commercial offensive" with three world premieres (new Transporter, the ID. Buzz GTX, new California) and that in this respect, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles now has the most comprehensive portfolio in its history, with models suitable for both professional and leisure use.

For 2025, we intend to enter new markets, particularly in the Asia region, for example in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong or Indonesia. These new markets will help to increase the proportion of all-electric vehicles in our range, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles said.

It says that its objective is clear: in 2025, the ID. Buzz and the 100% electric versions of the Transporter and Caravelle should account for more than 10% of the total volume of vehicles delivered to customers.
