ABB: develops rail transport with Stadler in US
(CercleFinance.com) - ABB announces its collaboration with Stadler US, the US subsidiary of the Swiss rail equipment manufacturer, to promote sustainable rail transport in the United States.
The company will supply traction converters and Pro Series batteries for new Metra and Caltrans trains in Illinois and California. Metra, one of the first US rail operators to run fully battery-powered trains, has ordered eight trainsets equipped with Pro 8C batteries and CC750 DC converters. Meanwhile, Caltrans has signed a contract for ten hydrogen-powered trains, incorporating Pro 8C batteries and CC750 DC and CC400 DC converters, thus helping to reduce energy consumption and emissions.
