Michelin: new research collaboration with CNRS

(CercleFinance.com) - Michelin has announced a new collaboration with CNRS, Université Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble INP - UGA and Université Savoie Mont Blanc to work on the development of a sustainable hydrogen production technology from water.

For a period of four years, their research teams will work on this theme within the framework of a joint laboratory, the third LabCom uniting the skills of Michelin and CNRS dedicated to the deployment of green hydrogen production technologies.

Led by CNRS researcher Frédéric Maillard, this laboratory will seek to develop a new technology, called Anion-Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzer (AEMWE), combining the advantages of existing AWE and PEMWE technologies.

This new technology will require the development of nanocatalysts made from metals abundant in the earth's crust, such as nickel, as well as a more environmentally-friendly anion-exchange polymer membrane.
