Engie: nuclear agreement with Belgium
(CercleFinance.com) - On Friday Engie announced that it has closed its agreement with the Belgian government on the 10-year extension of the Tihange 3 and Doel 4 nuclear reactors and the transfer of responsibility for nuclear waste.
This final stage has resulted in the payment of the first instalment relating to the transfer of responsibility for nuclear waste and spent fuel. The second instalment will be paid when the reactors are restarted in November.
Thanks to the transfer of all nuclear waste liabilities to the Belgian government, the energy group will no longer be exposed to future waste treatment costs.
