GE Vernova: commissions power plant

(CercleFinance.com) - GE Vernova announces the commissioning of the Pulau Indah power plant, about 60 km from the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.

The new 1,200 megawatt (MW) plant is expected to generate the equivalent of the electricity needed to power around 2.5 million homes in Malaysia.

Malaysia has announced its goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, and continues to refine a long-term development strategy aimed at reducing emissions.

Natural gas has become an increasingly popular option for power generation in Malaysia due to its increased availability and the fact that it emits less CO2 and other pollutants than coal, it says.

With over 40 years in business and the largest installed base of gas turbines in the country, GE Vernova is uniquely qualified to support Malaysia's energy transition, while helping to meet the country's growing demand for energy, it said.
