AMD: EU approves acquisition of ZT Group Int'l
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has approved the acquisition of sole control of ZT Group Int'l, by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), both American.
The transaction mainly concerns the markets for field-programmable gate array ('FPGA') semiconductors and data center servers.
The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given its limited impact on competition in the markets where the companies are active.
More specifically, the parties' activities do not overlap horizontally, and there are sufficient alternative suppliers of FGPAs and data center servers. The merged entity will therefore not be in a position to engage in any kind of market foreclosure strategy.
