Nokia: chosen to modernize Vodafone Idea network
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia announced Thursday that it has signed an agreement with Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) to modernize the Indian mobile operator's IP backhaul network.
Under the terms of the three-year contract, the Finnish equipment supplier will deploy its IP/MPLS network technologies, an ultra-fast and highly secure communications standard, in several regions of the country. The project, which will involve the installation of its 7750 SR and 7250 IXR routers, should enable VIL to increase its 4G and 5G capacities in the face of the emergence of particularly bandwidth-hungry applications, such as generative AI, immersive video games and video conferencing.
