Bayer: 'revolutionary' study on aging

(CercleFinance.com) - Bayer and Hurdle, a health technology company, announce that they have published 'a groundbreaking study' that represents a major advance in aging research.

The study introduces and validates a new saliva-based DNA methylation biomarker designed to quantify chronic systemic inflammation (CSI), which the researchers have dubbed 'InflammAge'.

According to Bayer, this research demonstrates how InflammAge can effectively help individuals quantify and assess the biological processes of aging, offering a reliable, non-invasive alternative to current methods of measuring aging at the cellular level, based on blood or other tissues.

As the world's population ages, it is becoming increasingly important to better understand and reliably quantify aging at the biological level, adds Veronika Óvári, Global Senior Medical Manager for Bayer's Consumer Health division.

We are delighted that InflammAge, a simple, non-invasive saliva test, can revolutionize personal care and the management of aging, she concludes.
