BAE Systems: gun system for Colombian Navy

(CercleFinance.com) - BAE Systems announces that it has won a contract from Damen Naval to install a Bofors 40 Mk4 naval gun system for anti-aircraft and anti-surface operations on the Colombian Navy's PES frigate.


With more than 70 systems sold to eight countries since 2015, Colombia is the second Latin American customer to adopt this versatile, multi-target naval gun.

Brazil has also chosen the Bofors 40 Mk4 as the standard main gun system for its small and medium-sized vessels.

'We provide state-of-the-art solutions that offer advanced firepower and the lightning-fast responsiveness that the Colombian navy needs,' commented Stefan Löfström, marketing and sales director at BAE Systems Bofors.

The gun is due to be installed on the PES frigate in 2029.
