Lufthansa: highest annual sales in its history
(CercleFinance.com) - The Lufthansa Group reports sales of E37.
58bn for FY 2024, up 6% on 2023. Sales were driven by a 7% increase in the number of passengers carried, to over 130 million.
At the same time, the group posted adjusted EBITDA of E3.89bn (-19%) and adjusted EBIT of E1.64bn (-39%), after having to cope with strikes, aircraft delivery delays and operational challenges at its hubs in the first part of the year.
Lufthansa posted annual net profit of E1,380m, down 18% on the previous year (E1,673m). Lufthansa had the strongest year in its history in terms of sales, management says.
The further international development of the Lufthansa Group, with the integration of ITA Airways, the significant improvement in the stability of flight operations and the growing satisfaction of our customers show that our strategy is the right one and that our measures are bearing fruit, it adds.
As part of the biggest fleet modernisation in its history, the group plans to receive a new high-performance aircraft every two weeks over the course of the year. In total, the order list comprises around 250 aircraft, including 100 for long-haul.
For 2025, based on strong demand for air tickets, the Lufthansa Group plans to increase the seat capacity of its passenger airlines by around 4% year-on-year. The company thus anticipates a further increase in sales.
Overall, the Group expects adjusted EBIT for FY 2025 to be well above the previous year's level.
Following this publication, Lufthansa's share price was up over 7% in Frankfurt, making it one of the strongest performers on the European Stoxx 600.
