Eni: collaboration agreement for wind power in Italy

(CercleFinance.com) - Saipem, Divento, GreenIT, 7 Seas Wind Power and NiceTechnology have signed a collaboration agreement for floating wind power in Italy.


This agreement is part of the 7 Mers Med project in Sicily and the Ichnusa Wind Power project in Sardinia.

STAR 1 is a technology developed for the manufacture of semi-submersible floating wind turbine foundations, born of Saipem's decades of experience in the design, construction and installation of subsea infrastructures.

The 7 Mers Med floating wind project, located in the Strait of Sicily over 35 km off the coast, has a capacity of 252 MW and an annual production of around 800 GWh.

Ichnusa Wind Power is a project to be developed by the eponymous company around 40 km off the south-west coast of Sardinia, with a capacity of 504 MW and an annual production of around 1.6 TWh of renewable energy.

This agreement further strengthens the development of our 7 Seas Med and Ichnusa projects, which are at the forefront of floating offshore wind energy in Italy. Together with Saipem, Divento could play a pioneering role, facilitating the spread of local expertise and the construction of logistical infrastructures, fostering the growth of this new and important industrial sector in our country, said management of GreenIT - a joint venture between Plenitude (a company controlled by Eni) and CDP Equity (CDP Group).
