Porsche: acquisition of majority stake in 'V4Drive

(CercleFinance.com) - Porsche AG announces that it has acquired 'V4Drive' from the Varta AG Group on March 4, 2025.


This transaction makes Porsche the majority shareholder ofV4Drive, the lithium-ion battery specialist, while VARTA AG will retain a minority stake with no operational influence.

V4Drive is being renamed V4Smart to reflect the company's new direction.

Porsche announces that the high-performance cylindrical lithium-ion cells are currently produced at the Ellwangen site, whose facilities have been adapted for series production with a significant contribution from Porsche Werkzeugbau GmbH.

From April, these cylindrical cells will also be manufactured in a new facility at the Nördlingen site.

Finally, independently of this announcement, Porsche reports that it intends to pursue the acquisition of a stake in VARTA AG, thereby supporting the Baden-Württemberg-based VARTA AG Group in its restructuring process. This transaction has not yet been finalized.
