Vinci: signs a 92.4 ME contract in Uganda

(CercleFinance.com) - Sogea-Satom, a Vinci subsidiary, has won a contract to upgrade a water distribution network in Uganda.

The group will modernize and extend the water distribution network in the Kampala region of Uganda. The Group will also be responsible for increasing the capacity of the Katosi water treatment plant.

The work will involve the installation of 70 km of cast-iron pipes and the construction of large-capacity reinforced concrete reservoirs. Two new pumping stations and the renovation of two existing stations will also be built.

Financed by the French Development Agency (AFD), this 92.4 million euro project will improve access to treated water for 1.5 million inhabitants.

Sogea-Satom has been operating in Uganda since 1990, and in recent years has built the Ggaba, Katosi and Karuma drinking water treatment plants, while the Kagera plant is currently under construction.
