Macy's: broadcast agreement renewed with NBCUniversal
(CercleFinance.com) - Macy's announced Tuesday that it has renewed its broadcast agreement with NBCUniversal, which will continue to broadcast its festive events organized around the 4th of July and Thanksgiving.
Under the terms of the agreement, the U.S. television network will continue to broadcast on its NBC, Peacock and Telemundo channels the department store chain's famous Thanksgiving Day parade in New York, with its giant balloons in the shape of cartoon characters.
In 2024, the parade, held for the 98th consecutive year, attracted 31.7 million viewers on NBC and Peacock, up 11% on 2023.
The program, the most-watched in the U.S. during the holiday season, thus recorded a record audience.
The event, which will celebrate its centenary this year, has been broadcast by NBC since 1953.
The broadcast agreement also covers the fireworks show that Macy's organises every summer for the American national holiday.
Last year, for its 48th broadcast, the event attracted 7.6 million viewers, a figure that Macy's says is growing steadily.
