ExxonMobil: invests in a drilling project in Australia
(CercleFinance.com) - Exxon reports that Esso Australia Resources, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Australia, has announced an investment of nearly $200 million in the Kipper 1B project, which will bring much-needed additional gas supplies from Australia's Gippsland Basin.
The project aims to drill and install a subsea well in the Kipper field, and will involve major upgrades to the West Tuna platform.
Kipper 1B follows the successful completion of the recent Kipper compression project and the West Barracouta project, which was commissioned in 2021.
Esso Australia continues to invest in multiple projects that ensure our Gippsland operations maintain gas production into the 2030s, it says.
Drilling of the Kipper field is expected to commence later this year, providing critical gas supplies to the market ahead of winter 2026.
