Infineon: Brussels authorizes German state aid

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission announced on Thursday that it had approved German state aid worth 920 million euros for the construction of a new production site based in Dresden.

Brussels explains that the measure will help strengthen Europe's ability to secure its semiconductor supplies, in line with the European Semiconductor Regulation, which aims to reinforce the Old Continent's technological sovereignty, competitiveness and resilience.

The facility, which will enable Infineon to produce a wide range of chip types for industrial, automotive and consumer applications, will reach full capacity in 2031.

The Group plans to devote a total investment of €3.5 billion to the project.
