Aegon: H2 results below expectations

(CercleFinance.com) - Dutch insurer Aegon shares fell by over 8% on Thursday morning in Amsterdam, following the publication of H2 results that fell short of expectations.

This morning, the group reported a 14% increase in operating profit for H2 2024, to E776m, compared with the E909m expected by UBS analysts.

At E741m, net profit was also below the broker's forecasts.

With operating capital generation (OCG) stable at E658m in H2, Aegon says it has achieved its full-year forecast of E1.2bn.

For 2025, the group is still targeting operating capital generation (OCG) of E1.2bn, accompanied by free cash flow of E800m, compared with E759m in 2024.

The share, which at yesterday's close was up over 13% YTD, was subject to sustained profit-taking on Thursday morning following this publication, with its decline reaching 8.2% by 10:30 a.m., the biggest drop on the STOXX Europe 600 index.
