BNP Paribas: agreement with the EIB to support wind energy

(CercleFinance.com) - BNP Paribas announces that it has signed an agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) that will stimulate up to eight billion euros of investment in wind power projects across the European Union.


This initiative will mobilize key investments in support of new projects, supply chain efficiency and improved grid interconnections, thereby accelerating the development of wind power.

As part of this agreement, the EIB is providing a counter-guarantee of €500 million, which will enable BNP Paribas to build up a €1 billion bank guarantee portfolio to support new investment in the EU.

The leverage generated by this counter-guarantee is expected to stimulate up to €8 billion of investment in the real economy. This transaction is part of BNP Paribas' long-standing commitment to support the energy transition.
