Santander: annual earnings up 14%
(CercleFinance.com) - Santander reports attributable earnings of almost E12.
6bn for 2024, up 14%, notably thanks to maintaining disciplined cost control, with the best efficiency ratio in 15 years. The Spanish bank also claims strong sales growth (+8% to E62.2bn in total) in all activities and regions worldwide, as well as the addition of eight million new customers to 173 million. Santander plans to return E10bn to shareholders through share buybacks from 2025 and 2026 earnings and anticipated surplus capital, in addition to its standard cash dividend distribution.
