Santander: 14% increase in annual net profit

(CercleFinance.com) - Santander reports an attributable profit of almost 12.
6 billion euros for the year 2024, an increase of 14%, thanks in particular to 'maintaining disciplined cost control, with the best efficiency ratio in 15 years'.

The Spanish bank also claims strong sales growth (+8% to 62.2 billion euros in total) in all activities and regions worldwide, as well as the addition of eight million new customers to 173 million.

Santander plans to return 10 billion euros to shareholders through share buybacks from 2025 and 2026 earnings and anticipated surplus capital, in addition to its standard cash dividend distribution.
