Air Liquide: low-carbon offer chosen by 20 hospitals

(CercleFinance.com) - Air Liquide announced on Monday that it had signed contracts with 20 hospitals just under a year after the launch of its offer designed to help healthcare establishments reduce their carbon footprint.

Marketed since early 2024, the 'Eco Origin' solution offers hospitals a supply of liquid medical gases, oxygen and nitrogen produced using electricity from 100% renewable energies.

By reducing the proportion of emissions linked to transport, through the optimization of delivery routes and the introduction of alternative fuels, this offer is expected to reduce the carbon footprint associated with the supply of medical gases by an average of over 70%
compared with a standard supply.

In a press release, the French group states that, by 2024, it has signed contracts with 19 hospitals and clinics in six European countries (Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy and the Netherlands).

Air Liquide says it has also won its first contract in Brazil with a hospital in Sao Paulo, again for the supply of low-carbon oxygen and nitrogen.

According to a study cited by the company, the healthcare sector accounts for 4% of global CO2 emissions.
