L'Oréal: collaboration with IBM in generative AI
(CercleFinance.com) - IBM announced on Thursday that it has signed a collaboration agreement with L'Oréal, under which the French group will have access to its generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to develop more sustainable cosmetics products.
IBM explains that L'Oréal will use its personalized foundation models with the aim of optimizing its consumption of raw materials and energy, as well as reducing the amount of waste generated.
Over the next few years, IBM's tools will be deployed within L'Oréal's research and innovation teams, which number around 4,000 scientists worldwide.
IBM Consulting consultants will also support L'Oréal in recalibrating its work on discovering new formulation processes.
For the record, L'Oréal has set itself the target of using mainly bio-sourced ingredients or ingredients derived from circular processes in the manufacture of its products by 2030.
