Nokia: contract with Tennet in the North Sea
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia says it has been selected by TenneT, one of Europe's leading offshore transmission system operators, to supply its mission-critical optical networking technology to eight new 2 gigawatt (2 GW) platforms in the Dutch North Sea.
These platforms will bring large volumes of renewable energy from offshore wind farms to shore, contributing to Europe's ambitious climate neutrality targets by 2050, the Finnish network equipment supplier said.
Nokia's technology will support long-distance transmission of up to 300 km to connect offshore platforms to TenneT's terrestrial telecommunications infrastructure, with the first platform expected to go live by 2029.
