J&J: obtains CE certification for a catheter

(CercleFinance.com) - Johnson & Johnson MedTech announces that it has obtained European CE certification for its Dual Energy Thermocool Hermocool Smarttouch SF catheter, designed for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.


Integrated into the CARTO 3 system, this catheter enables electro-physiologists to switch between radiofrequency (RF) and pulsed-field (PF) energies in the same device.

According to Dr. Tom De Potter, this flexibility could improve cardiac ablation results. In the SmartfIRE clinical trial, the device demonstrated an acute success rate of 100%.

Full compatibility with the TRUPULSE generator is expected by 2025, says the laboratory.
