TotalEnergies: construction of GGIP project in Iraq

(CercleFinance.com) - TotalEnergies (45%, operator) and its partners Basra Oil Company (30%) and QatarEnergy (25%) today launched construction work on the ArtawiGas25 project, the first associated gas processing unit for the Ratawi oil field in the Basra region of Iraq.


The unit, part of the Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP), represents an investment of around 250 million USD and will process 50 million cubic feet per day (Mcf/d) of previously flared gas.

The gas will supply local power plants, covering the consumption of around 200,000 households in the Basra region.

The GGIP project represents a total investment of around 10 billion USD. It aims to develop Iraq's natural resources in order to improve the country's electricity supply, says TotalEnergies.

It includes a 300 Mcf/d gas processing unit, which will recover flared gas from three oil fields and supply gas to 1.5 GW of electrical capacity.
