Alfa Laval: a food innovation center in Copenhagen
(CercleFinance.com) - Alfa Laval announced plans on Thursday to build a new innovation center in Copenhagen (Denmark) dedicated to food, a project that the Swedish engineering group says it considers an "important" step in its investment plans.
The site, on which work has already begun, is expected to cover an area of around 1,200 m2, with commissioning scheduled for 2027.
In a press release, the heat exchange and fluid separation and transfer specialist states that the center, which will be located close to the headquarters of its water and food division, aims to develop industrial processes to meet the growing demand for food products while limiting the consumption of water, energy and other resources.
According to United Nations calculations, the world will need to increase food production by 70% by 2050 to cover the needs of a growing population.
