Roche: FDA approves new cancer scanner
(CercleFinance.com) - Roche announced on Thursday that the US FDA has approved the marketing of its Ventana DP 600, a high-volume slide scanner for automated analysis of cancerous tissue.
The device integrates the Roche Digital Pathology Dx suite, which was approved by the US health agency last June, but with the Ventana DP 200, a tool 40 times less powerful.
While based on the same technology, the high-capacity Ventana DP 600 generates high-resolution digital images that help doctors diagnose cancer cases and determine the most appropriate treatment for patients.
