Macy's: Hermès executive to join board
(CercleFinance.com) - Macy's announced Monday the appointment of Robert Chavez, a 69-year-old luxury goods executive, as a new independent director effective April 1.
The American department store chain notes that Robert Chavez has a 45-year career, including 24 years at the helm of Hermès Americas, the American subsidiary of the Parisian luxury house, where he will serve as executive chairman until his planned retirement at the end of March.
Prior to joining Hermès - where he headed operations in the United States, Canada and Latin America - Chavez was CEO of Etienne Aigner, a Munich-based manufacturer of perfumes and handbags.
He began his career at Bloomingdale's before joining Macy's.
