BT Group: to sell its data centers in Ireland

(CercleFinance.com) - BT Group is to sell its BT data center operations in Ireland to Equinix, which include two data centers in CityWest and Ballycoolin, Dublin.


The transaction, worth €59 million, is expected to close in the first half of 2025, subject to competition and regulatory clearance.

'This asset-lighting strategy and partnership approach to data center services provides BT with a much more commercially scalable and flexible model, offering multiple benefits to customers, with services available at over 560 sites worldwide' says the group.

Shay Walsh, managing director of BT Ireland, said: 'The agreement builds on our successful partnership with Equinix and ensures that customers will benefit from first-class data center services on a national and global scale, enabling BT to specialize in its core business areas of cloud, networks and security.'
