Nissan signs memorandum of understanding with Honda on planned merger

(CercleFinance.com) - Nissan and Honda have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to initiate discussions for a merger between the two companies through the establishment of a joint holding company.


'The MOU between Nissan and Honda announced today is intended to serve as an option to maintain global competitiveness and to enable both companies to continue to offer more attractive products and services to customers worldwide' says the group.

Makoto Uchida, Director, President, Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Nissan, said: 'Today marks a pivotal moment as we begin discussions on business integration that has the potential to shape our future. If this comes to fruition, I am convinced that by combining the strengths of both companies, we can offer unrivalled value to customers around the world who value our respective brands. Together, we can create a unique way for them to enjoy cars that neither company could achieve alone'.
