Apple: preliminary conclusions of the European Commission
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission announces that it has sent its preliminary findings to Apple in two specification procedures opened in September 2024.
These findings set out measures to ensure the interoperability of connected devices with iPhones and make this interoperability by third parties more predictable, as required by the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
The measures mainly concern iOS features such as notifications, AirPlay, AirDrop, and automatic Wi-Fi connection. They also concern the interoperability application process for developers.
Two public consultations have been launched to gather the opinions of interested parties before January 9, 2025.
According to the DMA, Apple must guarantee free and efficient interoperability with its iOS and iPadOS operating systems, for which it is designated as gatekeeper.
